Welcome to 1st Grade!

Dear first grade families,

Hello! It is so exciting that your kiddo is going to be in my class! I just cannot wait to meet you and your new firstie! Before things get too hectic, I wanted to touch base with all of you and let you know a few details about the upcoming weeks.

First, Orchard Hills will be hosting an in-person Meet the Teacher Night. In order to socially distance, the schedule will be the following:

Tuesday, August 18th: 5:00-5:30 (Last names beginning with A-D)

6:00-6:30 (Last names beginning with E-I)

Wednesday, August 19th: 5:00-5:30 (Last names beginning with J-Q)

6:00-6:30 (Last names beginning with R-Z)

If you are able, please bring your kiddo’s school supplies with you to Meet the Teacher Night. Because I have some supplies stored up from previous years, my supply list looks a little different than the district list. I will attach it below. If you have already bought supplies based on the district list, NO worries! You do NOT need to change what you have. :o) Also, there will also be a virtual Meet the Teacher option if you would like to do that instead! The link for this will be sent out on Tuesday.

Another bit of info. that I wanted to share with you is about our class snack time. Trust me, this will be a BIG deal to the kiddos. :o) In first grade, we do not have a designated snack time or snack schedule. However, I know little bellies get hungry after a long afternoon. So, near the end of the day, the kiddos are allowed to eat a snack if they have one. Snack will not be able to be provided by the school; so if you would like to have your kiddo eat a snack, they need to bring one from home. If you choose to send a snack from home, please send an individual portion each day as we will not be able to store food at school. Also, please make sure to chat with your kiddo about the importance of not sharing food at school and using good hygiene by washing their hands before and after they eat, etc.

Last, there is a lot of information we usually ask for at Meet the Teacher Night. However, to help cut down on the paperwork that night, I will attach a Google form that you can fill out electronically. Please fill this out by Wednesday, August 19th.

Below, I will attach my supply list, my Amazon Wish List, and the link to the Google Form. I am so excited to work with each of you this school year, and I can’t wait to get to know you better! Please let me know what questions you have or if there is anything you need.

Thanks so much!

Mrs. Phinney :o)
